CranioSacral Therapy

CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system – comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. By complementing the body’s natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. Integrated BodyWork using:

Swedish Massage

This is a light and relaxing massage that utilizes long, flowing strokes, often but not necessarily in the direction of the heart. This soothing massage and gentle touch takes you to a new level of stress reduction.

Therapeutic & Trigger Point Massage

Deep muscle massage will flush toxins from your body and enhance your immune system. Working a specific joint, muscle or muscle group, your therapist can access deeper layers of the soft tissue. Therapeutic massage is designed to reduce injuries and alleviate inflammation.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat pain and restriction of motion due to fascial disfunction. The direct myofascial release (or deep tissue work) method works on the restricted fascia throughout the body. Practitioners use knuckles, elbows, or other tools to slowly stretch the restricted fascia by applying slow, deep pressure. Direct myofascial release seeks for changes in the myofascial structures by stretching, elongation of fascia, or mobilizing adhesive tissues. The practitioner moves slowly through the layers of the fascia until the deep connective tissues are reached and released. Myofascial work is not relaxation massage and can feel intense, but your practitioner will work within your comfort zone to help alleviate your pain.
